July 2017: Birthdays and a Beach Trip!

For the past 5 years, my family, Luke’s family and my sweet best friends from high school have celebrated 4th of July together in some way shape or another. It usually comes together the day or two before and we realized this year that it has become an annual thing…seriously no real planning or fuss …just good food, leftover wedding sparklers, apples to apples, and SO. MANY. LAUGHS.

I feel so incredibly blessed to have friends from kindergarten who still mean the world to me. No matter the time apart, when we’re together again, I feel 15 … and everyone needs friends like those!

July is always a big birthday month because three of my best friends have birthdays 5 days apart! We celebrated precious Alli this year in Charlotte at Bakersfield (so yummy) and then a couple days later, celebrated my girl Lindsey at the Roasting Company in Rock Hill. Who knew they had karaoke on Thursday nights? We soon found out and took full advantage 🙂

Luke and I also enjoyed a spur of the moment weekend trip to Edisto with our friends David and Ellen and it was just wonderful. With Luke in rotations all summer, it’s been really hard for him to catch a vacation, so this quick weekend Beach getaway was so good for both of our souls – sweet friendship, the perfect beach day, good food, and rest.

We hurried back from the beach early Sunday to make it back in time for Luke’s grandfathers 90th birthday lunch! This sweet man has been such a blessing to me and I love that he is now my grandaddy too! He has created such a legacy in his 90 years of living and he is in better shape than me, so I hope he is around 20 more years! 🙂 He used to have a small plane and was a pilot, so for his birthday, he flew a plane!! AT 90! Seriously give me some of those genes (at least our kiddos will have them).
