Happy 1st Birthday to our babygirl!

I can’t believe we have a ONE year old! Anna Stephens is equal parts tender, spunky, determined, and sassy! She keeps us laughing and smiling! Her blue eyes are out of this world beautiful. It melts us how she connects with us and other people…she truly looks in your eyes and smiles or laughs. It is something we can’t wait to see develop more. There is definitely a gift in her social ability already! Having a child is wild because you don’t know any different before but then after, you’re like HOW DID WE LIVE WITHOUT HER? At least, that’s how Luke and I feel. What a precious privilege it is to be her parents. We have been so spoiled to have an “easy” baby … sure there have been so many hard moments, but they are heavily overshadowed by the good ones. She, for the most part, is not fussy and is a great sleeper. She’s such a cuddle bug and I love to snuggle her any chance I get!

My favorite moments of the past year, although hard to really choose one, have been our bedtime routine. Luke and I read to her, pray and then sing a little song I made up, but it’s become a staple. Most nights, I rock her to sleep, even though she doesn’t “need” it and continue singing to her. I can’t wait until we can sing together!

One of our favorite books to read to her is “Found” by Sally Lloyd Jones, which is the Jesus Storybook Bible’s version of Psalm 23. We love to pray it over her precious life …

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Amen!

It is an immense blessing to have Meghan Cavin as a friend, for so many reasons above and beyond the fact that she is an amazing photographer, but I sure am thankful she is! She captures families in such a unique and authentic way. I treasure these pictures so much, as they reflect Anna Stephens’ personality beautifully and will always serve as a precious reminder of this sweet time in her life.

I don’t ever want to forget how cute it is when Anna Stephens picks up a phone or a remote or really anything, holds it backwards up to her ear, and says “HAAAY!”

I don’t want to forget the way she pretends like she’s going to share her food and then pulls it away and smirks … especially with Willow. Poor dog.

I don’t want to forget her chunky legs in these white tights and how obsessed she was with that little rocking chair

I don’t want to forget her love for books, especially touch and feel ones

I don’t want to forget the way she “dances” anytime a song comes on, with her little booty bouncing

I don’t want to forget her waddling around our house, so sure of her new walking skills!

Lord, help me remember and cherish the life we’re living right now…because despite every hard circumstance and day that goes against the plan, it’s my dream come true!
