February is my favorite month because it’s my birthday, our anniversary, and Valentine’s Day! I’ve always been a fan of Valentine’s Day, not for the mushy gushy romantic stuff, but just for the cuteness! I think it’s so fun to celebrate the love you share in all your relationships a little extra on Feb 14th! Plus, my favorite things are the color pink and flowers, so it’s just such a happy holiday/month and this short month felt jam-packed this year!
First, we bought a car! It has been five months since Luke’s accident and we finally own two vehicles again! We thank the Lord for blessing us with a safe and reliable car and I, personally, am living in a dream world because I’ve always wanted a Honda Pilot and now we have our Ponda!
We also lost my sweet MawMaw here on earth as she went to be with the Lord on February 9th, 12 weeks to the date after my Papa died. I know she is with Jesus and that’s a glorious thought, but my sweet mama losing both her parents in 3 months time has been heartbreaking and it just reminds you of what really matters in life! Loving your people and pointing them to Jesus!
We celebrated our 2nd Wedding Anniversary with a short getaway to Charlotte! We stayed at the Ivey’s Boutique Hotel in Uptown (and wow, it did not disappoint – the most BEAUTIFUL place!) and spent a day at the Ballantyne Spa. We talked about what we’ve learned in the past two years of marriage, what we look forward to, and where we see ourselves in one year and two years from now. I just love my sweet Luke and I think it’s so important to make a big deal out of your anniversary every year, even if it is just a date night in your hometown!
Then we celebrated my 25th birthday and our 2nd anni on February 27th! Luke and I went to lunch and then my parents surprised me with a quartet that came to sing to me at my office and it was priceless (see video below). Wow. I was so surprised and it was just unique and hilarious and sweet and something I’ll remember forever. We went out to eat that night and then celebrated with an ice cream and cake party this weekend with some friends and it was just wonderful. I’m so thankful.
Throw in a youth retreat with the students at church, the start of tax season for me and Luke’s job at Harris Teeter, helping some of our best friends move and it was such a crazy, busy, and fun month!
